2008 Yu-Gi-Oh! UK National Championships - We have a Winner!

After 2 days of intense duelling, Han Wei Tang beat fellow London player Chris Kirkham to take the 2008 UK National Champion title!

Han Wei’s Lightsworn deck dealt with all challengers he faced, and helped him duel his way to the final, and the title! As well as the National Title, he also picked up a laptop for his troubles! Congratulations Han Wei!

He joins Andrew Lam, Wayne Pinkney and Adam Krusynski in this unique category. An amazing 227 players turned up to play in the championships that were held at the London MCM Expo. As well as the National Championships, the event also saw a number of side-events taking place, including fiercely contested King of Games tournaments and a few unique side-events!

The new Light of Destruction cards proved popular over the weekend, with numerous Lightsworn decks proving effective, as well as some interesting Gladiator Beast builds, as demonstrated by runner up Chris Kirkham’s blazing trail to the final.

Han Wei won’t have long to rest on his laurels, as he and the other 7 finalists will represent the UK at the European Championships being held in Amsterdam on the 21st-22nd June! Check back here next month for all the news on this and find out who won!

In the Under 14 Championships, the youngest member of Team Mad for Miniatures, Jed McDevitt defeated 41 other players to take home the Under 14s title, plus a Nintendo Wii and Crush Card Virus!
